Volkswagen Taking Over Opel?

The German auto maker is looking to take over Opel, and a price has been named. Volkswagen is interested in purchasing General Motors’ Opel business, “and has already indicated the price it is willing to pay for it,” German financial magazine manager magazin reports, citing people close to the industry. “GM found Volkswagen’s valuation of Opel too low,” the article also states.

Volkswagen spokespeople declined to comment – “We don’t comment on market rumors in general.” An Opel spokesman called the report “pure speculation.”

“Opel has been a part of the GM family since 1928 and remains important for the company,” GM added.
