A few miles down the road, this exciting Beetle story came to an abrupt end. Hurlbirt apparently lost control of his 1949 Beetle and smashed it up on a highway divider. He is being held on many charges- not including the hate felt by many vintage Beetle fans. What can we take away from this tale? How about the fact that Nathan smashed his Beetle into a divider at 115 mph and was later released from the hospital (before being taken into custody) with no injuries.
