And with the release of VW’s Up! concept it seems the Beetle will not look very Bug like for much longer. Judging from these concept drawings (below) the New Beetle will remain with the front end look it’s had since 1950 – but the rest will be redesigned.

Both hard-top and rag-top conversions have been spied, so all those cabrio fans out there will be able to ride top-down to the beach every summer. VW has confirmed it will import a version of the sixth-generation Golf as well, built on the same frame, with a price tag of $15,000. Also headed to fan in 2011 – a hybrid Beetle!

No official price yet for the 2011 Beetles – but at least they’ll keep a dashboard vase in every model.
